How To Parent Your Aquarius Kids

Aquarius kids are naturally eccentric, and they usually avoid following the status quo. If you have an Aquarian child, they may embrace their unique ways–they like to go against the grain and take risks or make changes. Your child may also thrive in group settings and surround themselves with friends. However, they may stand out for being different from everyone else, and they could sometimes feel like an outsider. They have to learn how to balance their time in group settings with needing space and independence to do their own thing.

Your Aquarian child may be very matter-of-fact in how they voice their ideas and opinions. They could also be very innovative, coming up with interesting new hobbies or frequently trying out unusual experiences. Your child may get easily restless if they sense that plans are moving too slowly or that there's not enough variety in their life. They're always one step ahead of everyone, thinking far into the future about what they want to happen. However, they may feel like they're in their head a lot of the time, and it could be difficult for your Aquarian to stay grounded in the present moment. Your child may like to daydream, or they could easily get anxious. To calm their thoughts, they may like to read, solve kids puzzles, or play with learning toys. Because their mind moves so quickly, your child may enjoy partaking in several different tasks at once.

        FIRE SIGN PARENTS

If you are an Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius parent to an Aquarius, you and your child have personalities that complement each other. Your Aquarius child may have a lot of big ideas for hobbies they want to pursue or adventures they want to go on, and you can help them to take action and jump right into a new experience. You understand your child's inner restlessness, so you could always be coming up with ways to keep both of your minds occupied. In addition, your Aquarius child may get very fixated on particular topics, and they could go through months-long phases where they're obsessed with a particular animal or talking about a future career. You may want to take them to museums or travel somewhere to fuel their passion for these specific interests.

You may also love your child's need to be independent, and you may encourage them to sign up for after-school activities, despite not knowing anyone else in the group. However, you could have a hard time understanding their need to be alone a lot. You, yourself, thrive off being around other people, but sometimes your child may need to separate themselves from a group to focus on the solo activities that light them up. Being mindful of giving them space may be something you need to work on.

        EARTH SIGN PARENTS

If you are a Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn parent to an Aquarius, you and your child may approach life in very different ways. You're fond of having a lot of routine and structure, while your child may rebel when they sense that there are too many rules they have to follow. Your Aquarius child may like constant change, and they won't like sticking to a predictable schedule. However, you may want to encourage them to develop some sort of routine to feel more grounded and at peace. Your child may have nervous energy or be too caught up in thinking about the future that they forget to focus on the everyday details.

Your Aquarius child may also love to daydream and envision their goals, and you can help them with the practical tasks that need to be accomplished along the way. They could need some extra encouragement to do their homework after school or get to bed on time, and you may also want to set up playdates or activities that get them more involved with their peers. However, be wary of controlling their every move because that is what an Aquarius child hates the most.

        AIR SIGN PARENTS

If you are a Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius parent to an Aquarius child, you and your child may have a lot to say to one another. You may share a love for reading, or you could spend hours talking and trading ideas. You and your child also feel comfortable in social situations, and you may enjoy connecting with other people together. You might want to host after-school playdates for your Aquarius or take them to the playground or any other activity where they can mingle with their peers.

Another trait you and your child may have in common is that you can adapt to change easily, and you may need a constant variety of experiences in your life to stay satisfied. You both share a love for picking up new information, so you may enjoy teaching your child vocabulary words or reading to them at night. However, you could find that your child is a lot more stubborn than you are, and you may get frustrated when they dig in their heels and refuse to change their opinion on something. Especially if you're a Libra or Gemini parent, you may prefer to be accommodating to everyone, while your Aquarius child will want to speak their mind and be different just for the sake of being different.

        WATER SIGN PARENTS

If you are a Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces parent to an Aquarius, you will be helping your child to tap into their sensitive side. Your Aquarius may like to appear strong, and they probably aren't so quick to show their emotions. At times, they may like to say things just to shock other people, even though deep down they do have a soft side. Since you tend to be pretty sensitive, you may want to show your child how to be more compassionate and aware of how their words come across. In addition, your child may enjoy being part of a bigger community of friends, and you can help them open up and share how they're feeling with their peers so that they can form deeper connections.

One trait you and your child may share is that you both understand each other's introverted tendencies. Even though your Aquarius child has their social side, you may naturally understand when they need to pull back from hanging out with friends to be alone. You are able to give each other your own space with no questions asked. In addition, your child may have a very active imagination, so you can help them channel their thoughts into creative hobbies like painting or doing crafts.
