Wallpaper’s popularity has been on the rise over the past couple of years. And lines like Maison C, co-founded by artist Costanza Theodoli-Braschi and interior designer Chiara de Rege, is likely one of the reasons why. With motifs that feel more like fine art, it’s becoming a popular way to elevate a room to something truly whimsical and unique, infusing story in a way no Pantone shade can match.
Of wallpaper’s resurgence, Costanza says, “It fell out of fashion after the mass chintz of the 1980s because people tended to view it as something old-fashioned — something that reminded them of their grandparents’ houses. But now it's having a comeback thanks to younger artists taking a new and fresh approach. There are so many great options, and it makes a space.”

So how does Costanza advise pulling it off?
1. Think of your child’s room as a portal that transports them into a dream — that’s the essence of our line. Kids deserve to live in a fantasy world, a place they can explore again and again with wonder. I really believe you can achieve that with wallpaper.
2. Do not be intimidated. Think of wallpaper as art rather than home decor; you can keep everything else pretty minimal, like these hampers or these baskets for storage. (We have these in my daughter’s room.) A neutral, textured rug is dreamy and would never compete with a wallpapered room. And a sheepskin throw goes with everything, of course.
3. Have fun with it! Don’t be afraid to paper the ceiling. Yes, walls and ceiling. Or just paper an accent wall. Truly, anything goes.
