        Gifts for Mamas to Be

Marcella Kelson is a life coach dedicated to helping new parents navigate one of life's most monumental shifts. Here, she shares her top picks for thoughtful gifts to help ease the transition into new motherhood.

        Baby's First Year Book

While you’re going through the first year, the moments often feel so special that it’s hard to imagine that you’d ever forget them. Especially the firsts. For me at least, I was surprised at how much I didn’t remember in retrospect. I love that this book gives you a structured and thoughtful way of recording those moments. It’s such an amazing way to help that special mama in your life keep those memories forever.

        AERIN Desk Tray

I actually have this exact Aerin tray in my son’s nursery and it is in many ways a centerpiece of the room. Despite the mess that sometimes accrues in his room, I love to look at it as the one spot that is consistently composed! I have it on top of his dresser where I like to keep a fresh vase of flowers and his bedtime books. It adds a very chic element, while also being functional.

        Zofia Day Aquarius Charm

I have always loved astrology, so one of the first things I did when my son was born was book an astrological reading for him. I think this Zofia Day charm is such a nice gift for a mama who loves astrology. I would have loved a pendant with his star sign (Pisces) to keep close to my heart.

        Kate McLeod Mama Stone

This is my number one gift for any expectant mama. I received it as a gift, which I am so glad that I did, because I might not have had the opportunity to experience this magic. I used it throughout most of my pregnancy, and I still use it to this day. I had tried all the stretch mark oils, lotions- nothing left my belly feeling moisturized quite like Mama Stone. The best part is that it is completely baby safe, so when I was enjoying those newborn snuggles, I never had to worry that my son was being exposed to unnatural chemicals.

        Morgan Lane Robe

Managing body temperature is no easy feat in pregnancy and beyond. Having this extra layer to throw over pajamas or sweats is so helpful- it’s just one less thing to think about for a busy new mom! This amazing cashmere also makes it perfect for baby snuggles. Pajamas and robes are pretty much what I lived in throughout my pregnancy and newborn phase.

Musee Bath Sleep Bath Gift Set

Pregnancy and postpartum are so physically demanding. Baths become an amazing way to unwind and warm up in the evenings. It is such a great opportunity to reconnect with yourself in an otherwise mentally overwhelming time. I always encourage my clients to find a time that is just for them, which is not always easy to do. I love this bath set because it encourages mamas to take care of themselves and their bodies. After all, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

        Petite Plume Matching Sets

I won't speak for everyone, but personally, I didn’t get out of my pajamas for most of my pregnancy and fourth trimester. Between breastfeeding, changing the baby, getting in and out of bed, napping- the reality is, there isn’t really a need to wear anything else! I probably purchased four sets of pajamas as soon as I got home from the hospital, including these. I love that these also come in a matching nightgown for Mama's “mini-me”.
