HOW TO WORK WITH SCULPEY SOUFFLÉ: After you have all your clay supplies organized and ready, it's time to start crafting. To ensure the clay stays in good condition while you handle it, keep your work surface, hands and tools clean. One of the best ways to keep all your clay organized for specific projects is to use a metal baking sheet, wax paper, disposable foil or the Sculpey Oven-Safe Work Mat as your work surface. These materials act as a barrier between your clay and table, helping maintain the integrity of both and prevent staining on the table. Plus, once you've finished assembling your beautiful creations, you can easily place the moveable work surfaces onto a glass or metal tray if you're not already using one, and pop them into the oven to bake. Besides organization, there are other TIPS & TRICKS for working with Sculpey Soufflé clay. To begin any process, you'll want to knead the clay until it's soft and smooth. Once it is, you can begin manipulating it into the desired shapes and designs. If you're working with multiple colors, it's best to work with the light colors first, then move on to the darker ones. Doing so can help you avoid transferring the dark clay colors to the lighter clay when you work with it. If you're laying clay pieces on top of one another, ensure they stick after baking by firmly pressing the raw clay pieces together. For a smooth finish and to remove any fingerprints or other minor textural imperfections on your creation, you can sand and buff them or apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to the marks with a cotton swab. BAKING INSTRUCTIONS: Bake at 275 F (130 C) for 15 minutes per 1/4 in (6 mm) thickness. Do not microwave. Do not exceed the above temperature or recommended baking time. While crafting - Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey Tools Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately. WHILE CRAFTING: Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface.
